Every Murmels hatches with its own seeded look — shape, texture, pattern, eyes, and a palette drawn from dozens of combinations — plus a personality that drifts slowly over time based on how you treat it. It isn't a script playing out. It's a small, simulated life that responds to attention, and to its absence, in ways that are different for every creature.
Care That Feels Like Touch
Tap to interact, double-tap for a learned high-five, long-press for a hug, stroke to find its personal sweet spot, tickle with a fast rub, squish with a two-finger pinch, or shake your phone to surprise it. Feed it by dragging food to its mouth. Every gesture gets its own reaction — voice, animation, and haptic — synthesized live from the creature's own size and mood, never a sound file.
Grows With You, Not On a Timer
Life stages, branching forms, and personality all move based on the care your creature actually receives — not a clock ticking down. Shimmer berries, found through play, let you reshape part of its look through a small set of seeded options, and a mutation can always be undone.
A Life That Continues Off-Screen
Close the app and your Murmels doesn't pause — it sleeps, wakes, has off-screen events, and can even be sent on an adventure for a few hours, with a Live Activity tracking it the whole way. Come back to a story, a souvenir, and sometimes a surprise.
The Field Journal
Every discovery your creature makes — a favorite food, a hidden quirk, a trick it's learned, a dream it had — is recorded automatically in its Field Journal, complete with keepsake photos. Export the whole thing as a paginated PDF to keep, or share, its story.
A Room of Its Own
Decorate the room your creature lives in: six wallpapers, rugs, and shelf, windowsill, and floor trinkets your creature collects along the way. The room even changes with the seasons and holidays, quietly, without you having to ask.
